I was lucky enough to win a Lonely Planet Ultimate Travelist from a giveaway by the amazing JET Travels, if you haven’t heard of her before, I seriously suggest you check out her awesome travel blog right here
I thought it would be super fun to find the places I have been to on this list and share a little bit about them. I do want to express as much as I love this book and think it’s an awesome travel list, it’s definitely not accurate! For example, Tate Modern in London is number 52 on the list, I mean WHAT?!?! Also Ko Tao is number 68, a place which I thought, as Thai islands go, was pretty meh. Meanwhile Ko Phi Phi is number 279! Ko Phi Phi is probably the most stunning place I have ever been in my life! Whatever, little rant over, I’m just saying if you ever get the choice between the Tate Modern and Koh Phi Phi…I hope you know which one to pick
- Angkor Temples
As I’m sure most of you know, I went to the Angkor Temples last summer during our 3 month trip around Asia. These temples really are stunning and have an incredible history, I have a full post about our visit here if you are interested. I can’t write a lot about each place in this post otherwise we will be here forever!
2. Great Barrier Reef
I’ve actually been lucky enough to visit the Great Barrier Reef twice, once in 2006 and also in 2013. I must admit, I remember it being a lot more colourful the first time around. The reef has definitely seen a lot of coral bleaching, so not sure it would still make it to 2nd place in my opinion, the second time round was a lot more depressing for sure. That’s why we need to be saving the planet people!!
18. Santorini
Next up we have the gorgeous Santorini, and yeah, this is somewhere I’d absolutely love to return to. It’s so stunning. Annoyingly, I couldn’t find any pictures of this holiday, but I’m pretty sure we went in 2012
31. Hanoi Old Quarter
I’ve got a full post on Vietnam’s capital here
45. Serengetti & Ngorongoro crater
These two are getting lumped in together because I visited them both during the same school trip to Tanzania in 2013. This was one of the best trips of my life, so I believe it should be higher on the list. Either way, it’s definitely the trip of a lifetime and if you ever get the chance to go don’t ever turn it down!
52. Tate Modern
…we don’t need to talk about this one
57. Sydney Opera House
…don’t have any photos of this and really don’t remember it honestly…whoops
62. Stonehenge
Although I’ve never actually visited the Stonehenge, we’ve driven past it many a time. 4 times this summer just from driving back and forth from Cornwall! I’ve always found Stonehenge really fascinating because I’m a huge conspiracy theorist ahaha. 100% recommend looking into it!
63. Berlin Wall
Wow…just wow
65. Halong Bay
The destination of my 19th birthday, how could I forget ❤️ A Halong Bay Birthday
68. Koh Tao
Not my favourite Thai island but apparently it’s the highest on the list…whatever
83. Hoi An Old Town
The gorgeous town of lanterns, my favourite place in Vietnam. The Beautiful Hoi An
87. Red Square
I don’t think I’ve talked about this on my blog before, but I actually used to live in Moscow, so this one is close to my heart…although I don’t happen to have a lot of photos of Red Square ahaha. I’ll have to do a post dedicated to Moscow at some point
104. Auschwitz
I’m not going to put any photos up of Auschwitz, however it’s an incredibly interesting and harrowing experience I would recommend to everyone. I’ve visited a much smaller working camp (rather than concentration) in Germany as well, which was so interesting to see because it was smaller scale and not as well known. Definitely a very important thing to do at some point in our lives to remember what happened during the Second World War and make sure nothing so awful happens again if we can help it
114. Ayutthaya
One of my favourite places in Thailand, so beautiful. The Ancient City of Ayutthaya
118. St Paul’s Cathedral
Haven’t actually been inside but I walk past it all the time…yet this is the only photo I could find…brilliant
And that’s HALF of them! Damn, I didn’t realise I would be needing a part 2 but this post has taken me ages to write and has probably taken you ages to read (sorry!). Have you been anywhere on this list?
