Visiting London Friends Fest

If you haven’t seen Friends then maybe this post won’t be for you…wait a minute, you haven’t seen Friends?!?!? Literally how? Is it like one of those things where because you’ve got to this point in your life without seeing it you actually kinda like saying to people you haven’t seen it? Because that’s how I felt about Breaking Bad, but I just finished it this week and yeah, I get it.

Basically watch Friends ok, even if you’ve seen it 5 times through, go watch it again because it never gets old.

A couple of weeks ago I went to Friends Fest in Kennington Park with my mum and brother. We’d heard a lot about it before, but I’d never really been THAT bothered about actually visiting. Sure, we all love Friends and can quote every single episode, but did I really need to go? The answer is yes, yes I did.

There is just something so special about being inside Central Perk, ordering a extortionately priced ‘salmon skin roll’ cocktail, and pretending to drink beer in an extremly ragged wedding dress.

I kinda wanted to go just to get this picture ngl

It rained the whole time we were there and lots of the attractions (basically just photo opportunities) are outside, but we still smiled the whole time!

Enjoying a far too expensive ‘Salmon Skin Roll’ cocktail (dw it’s vegan ;p)

Even though we didn’t eat there, shoutout to the veggie options! Or more importantly, the pun of Phoebe’s “buffay”.

Most of the photo opportunites are outside, like the sofa and famous PIVOT scene, which you are free to roam around for as long as you like. The tour you book is of the three apartments, which takes place as a large group tour inside. Here you get to see the hallway, and lots of funny little details within the apartments.

My favourite parts were noticing the small details they had put in, like the copy of ‘The Shining’ being in the freezer (where Joey keeps it), the ticket for the Hootie and the Blowfish concert being on Ross’s pinboard, the recipe for the trifle being open on the kitchen counter…and the trifle being in the fridge!

“First there’s a layer of ladyfingers, then jam. then custard, which I made from scratch, then raspberries, more ladyfingers. Then beef sautéed with peas and onions. then a little bit more custard. then bananas and then I put whipped cream on top” ~Rachel~
Rachel: “Who gave you that hickey?” Monica: “That would be the work of a blowfish”
Rachel: “WHy do you have a copy of The Shining in your freezer?”
Joey: “Oh,I was reading it last night and I got scared so…”

We had such an amazing evening and I would highly recommend getting tickets if you can for when it next comes to your city. You can honestly NEVER get enough of Friends.

What’s your favourite Friends episode? I find it really hard to say but I love the one with the football and the one where no one’s ready. Also, the one with Brad Pitt’s guest role is absolute gold! My favourite character is definetly Ross. David Schimmer’s physical comedy is something else and I’m always laughing the hardest at his jokes. My favourite scene is probably Monica and Ross’s dance routine at Dick Clark’s Rocking Eve, it seriously gets me everytime.

Let me know your favourite Friends moments! Have you been to Friends fest?
